This week the Washindi Village (6-8th grade) at Jamaa Learning Center built headphones using paper cups, wire, magnets, and tape, and an audio jack. The scholars had to design the best way to twist the wire coils and attach them to the cup for the best sound vibrations. They then had a blast connecting their headphones to an iPhone or iPod to play music while they had a dance-off! Many of the scholars didn't think it was possible to make headphones with such simple materials, so it was pretty cool to see them figure out how to design them on their own.
